THE DELLOW LIBRARY

by Anita Banbury

Editor's note: Anita's work on the library is a suitable memorial to the huge contribution that Ron made to choral music in Auckland.

Ron Dellow accorded me the privilege of becoming the Curator of his collection of choral works accumulated over many years.  With the help of many friends, it has been sorted and is available for reference purposes.

In the main, the Library consists of single copies; for varying reasons Bach and Opera are only scantily represented.  A catalogue is available.  You can see it and the Library in Meadowbank, Auckland.  The catalogue (of over 5,000 entries) gives title, composer, voice and accompaniment required as well as the type of work.  However, these details are indicative only, and any borrower should come and check the work to ensure it is what is required.

Hours are:       9 a.m. – 6 p.m. (Monday – Friday)

            9.30 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Saturday)

All access is subject to my availability.

For the more technically inclined, there is a Zip file of an Excel spreadsheet that you can download here.

Music may be borrowed on the following terms:-

Music is lent on the basis of it being for private study, research, or assessment.  It is the responsibility of the Borrowers to arrange with the copyright holder for performing rights if they wish to use it, or copying rights if they wish to make copies.

There will be a deposit of $15 for each copy taken off-site of which $10 is refundable on return in same condition by the due date; (the $5 balance being a handling fee to defray costs).

 I can be contacted at:

 Phone / fax. (09) 521 1119

Or Unit 2, No.5, Houghton Street, Meadowbank, Auckland, 5.

In this, the initial stages of making this wonderful and very comprehensive collection available, I would like to keep the usage within the Auckland area.
